Shields certainly has talent and drive worth believing in. She’s faced every challenge in her career head-on and has succeeded every step of the way. She’s also willing to go beyond boxing to make her dreams come true.

In order to pay the bills and keep in shape as she waited to line up the unification fight, Shields turned to personal training, per the Los Angeles Times’ Dylan Hernandez.

“I would train like six or seven people a day,” she said, per Hernandez. “I did that for a month or two.”

Bohachuk couldn’t have had a better start to his professional career, having stopped all 18 of his opponents in six rounds or less since turning pro in 2017. However, Adams, a former title challenger, represents a step up in opposition for the 25-year-old Ukrainian.

The Los Angeles resident, a solid boxer-puncher, lost a wide decision to middleweight titleholder Jermall Charlo in June 2019 but bounced back to stop Sanny Duversonne in two rounds this past December.

Bohachuk was last in the ring last September, when he knocked out Alejandro Davila in six rounds in Mexico. Bohachuk is ranked by two of the four major sanctioning bodies, Adams by one.

Claressa added the vacant WBC belt a fight later, winning every round against brave Scot, Hannah Rankin, and after one defence of the trio of titles, she went for undisputed greatness.

It should have been a close affair against WBO champion, Christina Hammer, but Shields dominated in a lopsided points win.

Shields last appeared in January 2020, becoming a three-weight world champion with another landslide win on the cards, knocking Ivana Habazin down in the sixth to capture the vacant WBC and WBO Super Welterweight titles.

Shields already unified the middleweight titles when she beat Christina Hammer in April 2019. She’s on the cusp of unifying another division in just her 11th pro fight.

Dicaire, an undefeated southpaw, doesn’t have the name recognition of Shields, but she’s no slouch. Ring Magazine rates her as the second-best fighter in the junior-middleweight division behind Shields. There’s no one better to try to pull off an upset on a big night for women’s boxing.

Shields now attempts to become a two-weight undisputed champion, a feat not achieved by either gender in the sport’s history, when she defends her WBC and WBO Super Welterweight titles in her home town against IBF champion, Marie Eve Dicaire (17–0, KO0). The WBA “Super” world title is also up for grabs for the winner here.

‘T-Rex’ Shields needs little introduction, turning professional November 2016 after a glittering unpaid career where she struck Olympic Gold twice in 2012 and 2016.

It only took the 25-year-old four fights to become world champion, stopping Nikki Adler in five to win the WBC and vacant IBF Super Middleweight straps in August 2017, and she has gone from strength to strength from there.

In just two fights later she became Middleweight champion, but she had to get off the floor in the opening round to defeat Hanna Gabriels to eventually win the WBA (Super) and vacant IBF crowns.

Claressa Shields (10–0, 2 KOs) will continue her quest to stamp her name all over boxing’s record books on Friday night when she takes on Marie-Eve Dicaire (17–0, 0 KOs) in a women’s junior-middleweight unification fight. She’ll also be looking to prove she is the type of fighter who can draw in fans as a headliner after a long, frustrating battle to get back into the ring.

Shields and Dicaire are the main event of an all-female pay-per-view card at the Dort Federal Events Center in Shields’ hometown of Flint, Michigan. The undefeated 25-year-old holds the WBC and WBO junior-middleweight titles, while Dicaire is the IBF champion (the winner will also take hold of the WBA belt).
